Arbitrum is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, designed to make transactions faster, cheaper, and more scalable using optimistic rollups. It keeps Ethereum’s security while moving most computation off-chain.
The native token ARB is used for governance. Holders can vote on protocol upgrades, fund allocation, and Security Council elections through the Arbitrum DAO.
Arbitrum’s roadmap includes launching a Layer 3 solution (Orbit), supporting more programming languages for developers, expanding validators, and fully migrating to Arbitrum One.
On March 16, 2023, Arbitrum announced the ARB airdrop, giving 12.75% of tokens to early users and DAOs based on their activity. The token generation event occurred on March 23, 2023.
